2025 Board Meeting Minutes

May 6, 2025 Board Meeting Minutes
  • President Robert Stone called the meeting to Order at 2 PM.

  • The treasurer reported that we have $3,998.37 and $56.27.

  • Sandra reported we have 52 members, but not all have paid their dues yet.

  • We have 4 sponsorships who will contribute $50 each.

  • Mary made a $200 donation. She received $100 for each referral to Viking and gave the money to our chapter.

  • BT worked with the state AARP and asked them to email our chapter information to those with national memberships who live in our zip codes. This resulted in 10 new memberships.

  • 130 people stopped by the AARP booth at the Active Aging Expo.

  • Angela Jordan is our new service project lead.

  • Sandra reported that she is having trouble contacting our speaker for May 13. BT said she might have a replacement. Sandra asked her to wait 3 days before asking the possible replacement.

  • Annette reported that our chapter made about 100 flower arrangements. They will go to Montgomery Village, Sunrise, Shady Grove and Asbury.

  • Betty reported on the trip to France. We went from Paris to Normandy and back to Paris. We were very moved at the American Cemetery. In general, it was a great time.

  • Robert told us a little about his trip to New Zealand and Australia.

  • Our next service project will be a food drive with our partner BGC. We will collect food from June 1 to June 15 at the BGC. The food will go to the CaresHub. Mary will print off their wish list so shoppers will have some guidance.

  • From July 20 to Aug. 5 we will collect school supplies. Our chapter will supplement the collection by spending the approximately $200 remaining from the state grant.

  • We can’t do the toy drive on Nov. 11 because the center will be closed for Veterans’ Day. Our November schedule will be: Nov. 4 Board meeting, Nov. 11 Chat and Chew, Nov. 18 General meeting and toy collection.

  • Robert and Mary will not attend the August meetings. Annette said she would handle the August meetings.

  • The meeting was adjourned about 3 PM.

  • Submitted by Mary Hoferek, Vice President
